EPG stands for Electronic Program Guide. It is the schedule layer that shows what is currently playing, what starts next, and sometimes descriptions, logos, categories, and catch-up availability.
How EPG works
Most IPTV apps load EPG through an XMLTV link or through Xtream Codes. The app matches channel names or IDs with schedule data and displays the guide inside the player.
- Xtream Codes usually loads EPG automatically.
- M3U setups may need a separate XMLTV URL.
- Channel names must match for best results.
- Large EPG files can take time to sync.
Fix missing EPG
Refresh the playlist, clear EPG cache, check the time zone, and wait for the first sync to complete. Some apps need a full restart before guide data appears.
Why EPG matters
A clean guide makes live TV feel professional and helps families find sports, movies, news, and kids programming without searching manually.
